Lucy Cooks is a fabulous Cookery School situated in Staveley Mill Yard, near Kendal in Cumbria, The Lake District. It has a fresh and vibrant approach, where you will be inspired, educated and above all entertained!
Whether you're 9 or 90, we offer a whole range of individual one day practical courses and distinctly different demonstrations, designed to suit everyone from novice to Nigella... a course for all reasons and all seasons!

We've continued to build on the courses that have delighted and inspired so many over the last two years – Fish – Catch of the Day, Meat, Meat and More Meat, our Vegetarian Veterans and Delicious Desserts – Chocoholics Unite! We have also added a variety of courses with a seasonal twist and some new ideas. Look out for our extended range of Aga courses (including full Aga Days), as well as adding to the Taste Of….. series including Morocco, Vietnam, Thailand and Australasia. Healthy Eating courses have been extended too – so if 2009 meant a ‘new you’, we’re helping you to keep your resolve with a range of courses from Trim & Tasty to Healthy Ways To Cook For Kids.
Throughout the summer, you can discover a vibrant mix of courses that will open your eyes and broaden your culinary horizons. Expand your entertaining repertoire with our dinner party series - the perfect way to wow friends and family! Our Starters & Simple Stuff course will help you realise that the first course can be the most exciting. And August has something for the kitchen-shy boy in your life, with Just For Men - Absolute Beginners. As summer draws to a close, you'll be able to discover the rich flavours of the harvest season with September's Taste of Autumn daytime practical course and Food For Free Demo & Dine. They're packed with inspiring ideas that will help you make the most of what nature has to offer.
Many children and adults have shared the excitement that comes from a day course at LucyCooks in the last few months... our tailored Cool4Kids series has been a great success in entertaining eager young cooks in the school holidays. School groups continue to be regular visitors for bespoke practical days too.
Our Demo & Dine evenings are also increasingly popular... so we have scheduled more as well as continuing to offer our ‘I’ve started so I’ll finish’ (three mains and three desserts in petit portions) and Big Friday specials featuring some of the best local chefs.

Opening Times ;
Our opening times are every day from 10am – 5pm and some evenings from 6.30pm – 10.00pm ( we do close for 3 days at Christmas)
