Where to Eat - The Hideaway at Windermere

« Go Back

The Hideaway at Windermere is personally run by owners Richard & Lisa Gornall; since 2004, they have been committed to creating an experience for their guests which goes beyond 'a place to stay'. Together with their friendly team, they are dedicated to achieving their simple aims of providing restful rooms, delicious food & exceptional service.

The Restaurant - also open to non residents – creates Modern British Cooking in a relaxed stylish environment. Contemporary style with an elegant twist is the theme in our 2 Restaurants; both are perfect for a table for two or an intimate celebration. Recently awarded The Hideaway’s 1st AA Red Rosette; Richard & Lisa are delighted with this accolade which acknowledges their passion & commitment to delicious food & exceptional service.

Richard heads up the kitchen team himself; working with a hands on approach & an uncomplicated cooking style, he believes in serving the very best, simple food; allowing the delicious natural flavours to speak for themselves.

With the use of fresh, local, seasonal ingredients, the menu is an eclectic mix of traditional local dishes, modern British food, & just a hint of global influences; whatever the dish, Richard's aim is to present delicious food with a creative twist.

The well stocked bar offers a selection of bottled beers & local bitters, favourite tipples and night caps. Our wine list is interesting & varied and is certain to meet all tastes.
