Linthwaite House Hotel's 2 rosette award-winning Lake District restaurant serves "modern British" food and is under the stewardship of Richard Kearsley, one of the new generation of talented young British chefs.
Linthwaite House Hotel provides the ideal setting for small, private lunches or dinners. The excellent cuisine features the best fresh, local produce - ample portions immaculately presented, with a fine selection of wines.
Throughout the day a selection of freshly made sandwiches and beverages are served. Afternoon tea is served between 3.00 and 5.30 p.m. At lunchtime guests can choose from the Terrace Menu, whilst enjoying the breathtaking views of Lake Windermere and the Lake District fells.
In the evening there is a four-course table d'hôte menu, which changes daily, with dining in the mirror room restaurant or the billiard room.

From the North
Leave the M6 at Junction 39 (Shap) and follow the signs to Kendal. At Kendal follow the one-way system to Lakes/Windermere. At the large roundabout north-west of Kendal take the B5284 (Crook Road) sign-posted 'Hawkshead via Ferry', keeping the Gateway Inn on your right. Drive down the B5284 for 6 miles. We are on the left one mile past Windermere Golf Club.
From the South
To reach the hotel turn off the M6 at Junction 36. Follow the dual carriageway for about 8 miles. At the large roundabout north-west of Kendal take the B5284 (Crook Road) sign-posted 'Hawkshead via Ferry', keeping the Gateway Inn on your right. Drive down the B5284 for 6 miles. We are on the left one mile past Windermere Golf Club.
The northern scenic route
As an alternative scenic route through the Lake District, leave the M6 at Penrith and take the A592 down the west side of Ullswater. This route will take you over Kirkstone Pass. At the small roundabout after Troutbeck go straight on, keeping Lake Windermere on your right. At the roundabout in Bowness town centre go right, keeping the Royal Hotel on your right. Take the first left. After approximately ¾ of a mile fork left into Windy Hall Drive. At the end of this road you will come to a junction and the drive to Linthwaite is opposite.
By train
The nearest train station is Windermere (around 2 miles/10 minutes/ £5 by taxi), with regular connections to and from Oxenholme station which is on the main London (Euston) to Glasgow line. Oxenholme is just over 3 hours by train from London Euston. There are also trains from Manchester Airport to Windermere (some direct) which is a 2 hour journey.
