17th Century Farmhouse Guest Accommodation

Built by Anthony Sawrey in 1627, this picture-book oak-beamed farmhouse has a magical setting on the edge of the Tarn Hows Forest, situated in a quiet and peaceful location, yet in the centre of the Lake District just above Hawkshead village. Mike and Gill O'Connell offer a warm welcome to their home, with its friendly, relaxed atmosphere and popular home-made bread and cakes. They will do all they can to make your stay enjoyable and memorable.

Sawrey Ground, with its attractive and comfortable en-suite bedrooms, is ideally situated both for those guests who are frequent visitors to the Lake District, and for those who are exploring the area for the first time.

Many walks are possible from the front door, extending to Coniston, Windermere and Langdale, and including the beautiful lake of Tarn Hows. The area is good for bird-watching and wildlife, and also for cycling and fishing. The central location is ideal for touring the major lakes and centres of the region, and there are some excellent places to eat within easy driving distance.
